B is for Brasil (2001):
B is for Brasil was filmed in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and Recife. It depicts an English lesson and the children’s positive and excited response to the ‘Gringo’ in the classroom… We asked the children what they really wanted out of life….
Their response? To learn English so they could find a way out of poverty by generating an income engaging with tourists like us.
Excerpts from the film were used for Big Drum Adventure, an exciting percussion project developed with rhythm maestros WheresTheOne and promoted across City of Edinburgh’s music programmes in 2009-10.
